Dr. Aziz Sumer is a professor specializing in obesity surgery, general laparoscopic surgery, bariatric and endocrine surgery. He is highly regarded and ranked among the best surgeons in Turkey. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Akdeniz University in 1997.
He completed his specialization in advanced laparoscopic surgery and morbid obesity surgery (bariatric surgery) at Haydarpasa Numune Training and Research Hospital in 2010.
He has taken part in numerous training programs around the world, including the IRCAD-EITS Da-Vinci Surgical System Off-Site training program in France.
Dr. Sumer has more than 25 years of experience in his field. He received the title of Associate Professor in 2012, followed by the title of Professor of General Surgery in 2017. He also completed his organ transplantation (kidney) subspecialty program at Acibadem University Faculty of Medicine in 2013.
He is the author of more than 80 articles, cited and translated in over 100 national and international journals. He has extensive experience in metabolic surgeries such as gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy, as well as more complex procedures such as laparoscopic splenectomy and subtotal pancreatectomy, liver resection, and laparoscopic surgery of the large intestine, rectum and stomach.
